Andy and Melissa Voelker began their dream of the winery with an innocent conversation about retirement. They decided to run the idea past their children Benjamin (wife Stephanie), Brandon, and Brady. All of them were immediately on board with the idea. Andy then began researching all aspects of wine making including what grapes grew best in their region. In the early spring of 2013 they planted their first vines. In 2016, they brought in their first harvest of Niagara grapes and immediately began experimenting. The wine that was created out of the initial harvest was a sweet white table wine that is currently featured today as "Sweetie" and is one of the Barn & Bottle's top sellers. From that point it would be several years before the actual building of the winery would take place but during that time much more was happening behind the scenes. Over the years, the vineyard grew and more wines were developed. With the dream beginning to become reality, they wanted the name and the atmosphere to reflect their love for the family farm, henceforth the name "Barn & Bottle" came to be. In the late summer of 2019, construction of Andy's wine lab began inside a pole barn located on the property, moving the operation from their basement. We then decided to begin construction of the winery, using the front portion of the pole barn that contained the lab. With construction underway, the front of the pole barn was built into the tasting room with large, white pine beams, galvanized tin ceiling, and shiplapped pine walls. The patio was added to the south side of the barn along with the arbor over the front entrance that would also become our logo. Barn & Bottle Winery opened softly to the public in October of 2022 and celebrated its grand opening in March of 2023.
